Job Summary Generally responsible for performing field surveys and laser scans and preparing drawings to be used for the design and construction of industrial facilities as well as construction staking in the industrial environment. Generally responsible in facilitating the completion of assigned projects and tasks by providing leadership, direction, training, and mentoring to junior staff within the team. This work will be performed under general supervision. Short term travel may be required. Key Responsibilities and Duties Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: \u2022 Completing project safely and within required accuracy and timeframe. \u2022 Coordinating with survey team and design team to ensure survey scope is clear and deliverable expectations are met. \u2022 Plan, organize, and lead daily survey activities of assigned staff to meet client, team, and corporate goals. May function in a lead position with respect to actual accomplishment of tasks and\/or may function as a technical consultant to other team members. \u2022 Coordinating findings with the work of engineering teammates, clients, and others involved in projects. \u2022 Supervise and assist Survey Technicians in processing field data, preparing 3-D models, preparing surveys\/plats, and making revisions as required. \u2022 Calculating heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain and industrial facilities. \u2022 Adhering to existing standards of practice for surveying. \u2022 Conducting surveys to establish legal boundaries for properties, based on legal deeds and titles. \u2022 Establishing construction control points for use in the installation of equipment and materials. \u2022 Preparing sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys. \u2022 Recording the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features. \u2022 Searching legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed. \u2022 Verifying the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites. \u2022 Function as a primary contact point for the client concerning the surveying aspects of his\/her project. \u2022 Review and approve the technical approach to project tasks and the intermediate & finished work product to ensure that they meet objectives. \u2022 Coordinate with applicable government agencies and attend meetings as appropriate to assure that client projects comply with agency regulations. \u2022 Perform initial QA\/QC and final review of the project work if surveyor of record. \u2022 Supervise and lead assigned staff in accomplishing their essential duties related to client and government agency communication. \u2022 React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Education: Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting, Surveying \\ Geomatics is required. Bachelor Degree in Surveying \\ Geomatics from an accredited university is preferred. Registration: Professional Land Surveyor registration is highly preferred or may be required. Experience: This position requires 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in land surveying and computer aided drafting. \u2022 Familiarity with survey standards and codes. \u2022 Knowledge and application of local and state regulations as they pertain to land surveying. \u2022 Proficient in the use of field instruments such as robotic total stations, data collectors, GPS, and laser scanners. \u2022 Proficient with Cyclone laser scanning software or equivalent a plus. \u2022 Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Carlson Software or equivalent. \u2022 Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. \u2022 Good communication skills, both verbal and written. \u2022 Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed and able to provide interoffice execution and support with general supervision. \u2022 Demonstrated sound judgment and technical & professional competence in land surveying. \u2022 Ability to organize\/lead field efforts for laser scan. Physical Requirements \u2022 Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time. \u2022 Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs. \u2022 Ability to use the entire body, more often hands and arms, in handling, positioning, and moving equipment. \u2022 Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates, which may involve walking through difficult terrain. \u2022 Comfortable working at heights off scaffold, platforms or manlifts. \u2022 Ability to drive \u2013 possesses a valid driver\u2019s license.
