We have an immediate need for an experienced Mechanical Engineer

for a process technology/petrochemical global organization. They have developed some of the petrochemical industry’s most significant process technologies, which are used today to produce millions of tons of petrochemical intermediates in numerous licensed process plants worldwide. Their technologies are used in a multitude of products including polyesters, plastic bottles, vehicle components and consumer products. This is a highly specialized group of professionals (80% have Master's degree or higher!), great tenure, strong focus on research and development, dynamic challenging work.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work on a small, core team in a hands-on design role executing and delivering Process Design Packages. You will design all aspects of mechanical equipment for the process units; geometric layout, thickness calcs, stress analysis of the reactors, internals, and gas mixing stations.

Additional responsibilities are:

Collaborate with the customer during kick-off meetings. Reviewing vendor drawing fabrication drawings, welding procedures, quality plants. Participate in the qualification process of reactor/gas fabrication.

Review supplier designs against requirements, code requirements, and customer requirements (Specs)

Ensure inspection & test plans (ITP) are developed, maintained, and implemented for each project.

Perform technical functions (specify, evaluate, expedite, and inspect) & incorporate applicable code and customer requirements in order to produce a complete technical definition of the equipment to be procured (vessels, exchangers, rotating, and miscellaneous equipment) for Equipment product lines.

Technically evaluate bids and participate in the supplier selection process

Travel to customers as needed (globally - about 1-2 weeks max out of the country), inspecting/checking equipment, troubleshooting at licensed plants

Review Detailed Engineering Design and Module or Skid Fabrication deliverables to ensure consistency with the design basis and to monitor overall delivery status.

Provide sales support, including technical scope definition and cost information for project opportunities being pursued by sales representatives.

Participate in the qualification & selection of detailed design firms, equipment vendors and fabrication shops

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil) required. ASME code pressure vessel/internal design experience required.

5-20+ years experience in petrochemical, refining, oil & gas industries, ideally with a licensor

Experience in mechanical design of petrochemical equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, distillation columns, reactors, internals, gas mixing stations). Experience with Ethylene Oxide Ethylene Glycol (EO/EG) is a plus

Knowledge/experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEM) and Thermal Analysis a plus
