Our Rochester office is seeking a CAD Technician for public transportation projects, primarily bridge and highway/roadway. This position will report to the Sr. Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for preparing and modifying CADD drawings (plans, layout, and details) for assigned projects in accordance with standards and department procedures.
Prepare 2D bridge and highway layout models (references) and sheets (contract documents).
Conduct red-line changes to contract drawings.
Assist in the development of structural bridge plans including general layouts, foundation plans, concrete details, steel details, cross sections, reinforcing details, utility plans, and exhibits.
Assist in the development of highway plans, including roadway layouts, cross sections, drainage, intersection, and traffic signal layouts, etc.
Assist in the development of civil and structural canal plans including general layouts, foundation plans, concrete details, steel details, cross sections, reinforcing details, grading plans, erosion control plans, utility plans, and exhibits.
Interpret design information from existing plans, sketches, redlines, field notes and visualizations to create detailed bridge or highway/roadway plans.
Adhere to T.Y. Lin\u2019s production practices and the client CAD standards.
Perform field investigations and surveys.
Perform quantity calculations.
Provide guidance in CAD techniques to other design-team members.
Consult and understand design manuals, agency standards and procedures.
Actively participate in team discussions.
Maintain electronic project file organization and archives.
Document as-built revisions.
Other related tasks as required.
Technical (Associate\u2019s or higher) degree in engineering technology from an accredited technical institution is required.
Knowledge of MicroStation in an engineering environment, specifically associated with the production of transportation plans is preferred (additional AutoCAD/Civil3D a plus).
Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office, Acrobat/Bluebeam, and other engineering production software is recommended.
Ability and willingness to learn 3D Modeling software.
