Growing defense engineering company located in the south metro area is seeking a sharp and energetic Mechanical Designer to join their team. In this challenging role, you will work with new product development of next-generation electromechanical products. This will include advanced design of electro-mechanical and sheet metal components, extensive GD&T analysis and Pro/E Creo solid modeling. This is an excellent six-month contract to hire opportunity. Responsibilities -nPro/E Creo modeling, component, assembly drawings, production fixture design and procurement for new product introductions.n-nProvide input to Project Management and Mechanical Engineering Lead on project performance against established milestones.n-nWorks on project from concept through production release.n-nWorks with lead engineer and manufacturing engineering to ensure the manufacturability of the product and takes ownership of any design challenges brought forward during proto, pilot and full production stages of project.n-nPrepares assembly and component drawings for manufacturing according to ANSI standards.n-nCoordinates and actively participates in all activities associated to prototype builds and proto part procurement.n-nCoordinates tooling quotes and part approval with tooling vendors.n-nClosely monitors and participates in proto builds and pre-production runs to ensure that the final assembly is correct and in accordance with the documented product design.n-nParticipates in the redesign of existing products in an effort to reduce components or manufacturing cost, improve performance or enhance capabilities of products as assigned.n-nMakes recommendations to engineering lead regarding product design as it relates to design or manufacturability.n-nContinually seeks to strengthen knowledge in the use of Creo and in the development of advanced technology.
