The Drafter turns conceptual drawings and designs into detailed cost effective shop drawings showing customers and fabricators how we intend to build the signs. The mechanical designer will work and consult closely with our estimators, fabricators and designers to create the necessary detailed shop drawings while maintaining company standards and procedures. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot design elements related to fabrication methods to ensure compatibility and feasibility of installation.
Duties and Expectations:
Work closely with fabricators to develop detailed construction drawings within a provided scope of work, budget and timeline
Create, revise and modify designs to meet manufacturability
Attend planning and production meetings to discuss new and current projects
Create or interpret bills of materials (BOM’s) for detail parts and assemblies
Review and interpret architectural drawings
Assist fabricators with additional detail drawings as needed
Follow tasks through to completion
Interact with architects, designers and engineers
Able to work in a team environment
Ability to work under pressure and on multiple tasks; independently or within a team
Education, Experience and Specific Skills:
2-5 years of experience in drafting/design work preferred
Sound knowledge of a broad range of materials and manufacturing techniques within the custom fabrication industry preferred
Ability to develop complex assembly and weldment drawings
Educational background in Architectural, Mechanical, Design or similar field strongly preferred
High competency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks required. Both preferred.
Experience or exposure to REVIT is a plus
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat or CorelDraw is a plus
Proficient in MS Office Suite and Google Docs
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail oriented mindset with a forward thinking mechanical aptitude
This role will have no direct reports but may provide direction as a part of managing the workflow.
Intermediate to advance skills with MS Office.
Above average typing skills
Advance knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks and other design software
Minimal travel may be required based on assigned projects

Ability to read and interpret documents such as spreadsheets, blue prints, work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, emails or correspondence.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Environment and Working Conditions:
Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particulates; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the office work area is quiet and could be moderate when around running power equipment within the plant.
Normal hours for this role are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. The nature of this position may require some flexibility and some additional hours during various weeks due to workload and seasonality changes.
