Louis Berger, a WSP company, has an exciting opening for a Traffic/ITS Engineer to join its transportation team at its global headquarters in Morristown, NJ. This mid or senior level Traffic/ITS Engineer will have the opportunity to support both local and national key projects through responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following:
Traffic signal and ITS design
Signing / striping layout and design
Will be responsible for developing, updating and reviewing design documents, technical specifications and other project related document. More specifically this person will be involved with ITS architecture systems engineering analysis and plans specification and estimates (PS&E) development for freeway arterial (and preferably transit) ITS systems including ITS master plan, active traffic management system for dynamic lane and speed management. Preferably, including all electronic/open road tolling systems, fiber optics and wireless communication systems and local area network power distribution systems
Projects will also include field equipment including CCTV camera, dynamic message sign, vehicle detector, weigh-in-motion system, traffic signal interconnect, transit signal priority and SCADA system design
Operational analysis of intersections, corridors, interchanges, freeways, and ramps
Planning, concept development, and feasibility studies
Bicycle and pedestrian facility review and design
Traffic data collection
Technical writing and report documentation
Preparation of engineering design plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Providing technical support and task management for transportation projects in New Jersey and New York.
Required Characteristics, Skills, Education
Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
BS or BE in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
3-8 years of experience in the fields of traffic and transportation engineering.
NJ Professional Engineer License and/or ability to obtain NJ license
Working knowledge of traffic engineering software, such as HCS, Synchro & SimTraffic, VISSIM, and/or CORSIM.
Preferred Characteristic and skills:
Familiar with the MUTCD, HCM, AASHTO, ITE guidelines, ADA Accessibility Guidelines and the NJDOT Roadway Design Manual.
Experience with AutoCAD, AutoTURN, GuideSIGN, Microstation, and/or GIS.
Experience developing bid packages, including plans, construction cost estimates, and technical specifications.
Experience and/or ability to perform field work, including site inventories and/or traffic data collection.
Experience with site trip generation, operational analysis of intersections and roadways, crash and safety analyses, signal design, and/or signing and striping layout and design.
PTOE or eligibility to sit for the PTOE exam.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
