Prepares standard & custom electrical designs, drawings and creates bills of material for industrial motor control equipment from customer specifications in accordance with applicable electrical codes and standards.
Drafting duties include production drawings, customer approval drawings, (BOMs) bill of materials, and engineering change orders.
Duties also include maintaining all UL/CSA component documents and control panel compliance.
Designs basic electrical control systems for industrial motor control equipment in accordance with applicable electrical codes and standards.
Develops standard wiring diagrams, layouts, bill of materials and other drawings as necessary for assembly and wiring of low voltage control equipment.
Produces production and customer approval drawings using AutoCAD.
Maintains new and revised product drawing files according to ISO procedures and standards.
Works closely with all departments within the organization to insure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
Develops and implements processes that will improve productivity and reduce costs in the overall manufacturing process. Develops associated documentation.
Ensures familiarity with and conducts tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, environmental and security regulations (state/federal laws, ISO 9001, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18000, etc.) as well as company policies and procedures.
Strong aptitude toward electrical/mechanical design and drafting with ability to read and develop schematics and drawings.
Solid understanding of drafting techniques and principles and familiarity with engineering terminology.
Experience or demonstrated aptitude to learn computer aided drafting software (AutoCAD).
Familiar with industry electrical standards such as UL, CSA and NEC.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software products and business systems such as JD Edwards, SAP.
Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational and time management skills.
Self-starter able to multi-task and work on several projects according to shifting urgency.
Demonstrated knowledge or has aptitude to learn AC/DC electrical theory preferred
Familiar with production methods, good working knowledge of industrial tools, mechanical assemblies and motor control products desirable.
Hands-on experience in a panel shop or in the electrical trade is a plus.
Electro-Mechanical design, panel layout experience is a plus.
Associate’s degree or equivalent education/experience in the motor control industry.
Proficiency in AutoCAD preferable.
