Description Essential Function and Responsibilities: Utilize customer specifications in conjunction with new model part prints to identify modifications required to mass production equipment to produce new model parts Create specification documents, concepts and line layout drawings to communicate changes required Perform machine design, modeling, component sizing and specification, and part detailing Create project documentation including Bills of Material, spare parts lists, operation and maintenance manuals, assembly procedures and check sheets, repair procedures, management reports and project schedules\u00a0 Perform engineering calculations to determine machine cycle time including FEA (Finite Element Analysis), FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) static and dynamic accuracy Manage multiple projects (potentially at multiple plants) including critical path planning, cost and hours variance tracking and reporting Lead team meetings Daily Tasks: Utilize SolidWorks, AutoCAD and CATIA to make layouts, concepts, model comparison, line arrangement drawings and detail drawings Utilizes Microsoft Office products to create and share project documentation and content Utilize verbal and written communication skills to report project status and lead meetings to gain consensus Utilize Microsoft Project and Excel to create and update project schedules Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of the metric system Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics preferred Design skill in 2D (preferably AutoCAD) and 3D (preferably SolidWorks) Ability to analyze problems and implement improvements to existing designs and equipment Project management skills Microsoft Office skills Design concept, manufacturing and install experience Required Experience: Minimum of three years of mechanical design engineering experience in the field of machining, material handling, machine design and\/or assembly machine\/automation design Education Requirements: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Associate's degree in Mechanical Design or related field Other Factors: Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally - one to three weeks per year on an average - may be more based on project activity at other plant locations 90% office environment and 10% hands-on (line-side investigation, machine build and install support) Ability to work occasionally with equipment covered in various machine coolants\/oils required Willingness to work daily overtime and some weekends when necessary
