In this role, you'll be responsible for transforming product designs into working documents using computer-aided design software (CAD). You'll work closely with our design engineers to resolve discrepancies between design intent and CAD documents, prepare documents for shop floor consumption, and work with shop floor and quality personnel to improve the standardization of our CAD documents for manufacture.
You'll also have the unique opportunity to develop and implement design standardization across product families to help us work towards the future and prepare for design automation.
As the ideal candidate, you'll have extensive experience with Solidworks mechanical design and structuring design tables for parametric modeling of part families. You'll also have a solid understanding of drafting best practices and will be comfortable authoring work instructions and creating design standards that others can follow. Any experience with Design Automation efforts would be a welcome plus to the role.

PRIMARY DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Reads and interprets engineering input and technical specifications to create functioning layouts for use in the manufacture of precision mechanical parts
Uses Solidworks CAD software to create and revise 3D models, assemblies, layouts, and Bills of Materials to create detailed and accurate product drawings and specifications for internal and external consumption
Makes extensive use of design tables to create tabulated drawings for families of like parts
Will work on industrial facility electrical drawings and control panel drawings.
Works within established processes and maintains compliance to written procedures for engineering change orders, document management, and other related job activities
Contributes to the assemblage and organization of engineering data and documentation and works to continually improve the process following LEAN principles (identify value, map the value stream, create flow, establish pull, and seek perfection)
Stays abreast of recent trends & developments relative to computer-aided design and provides insights into ways to improve efficiency and productivity
Works closely with the Engineering Supervisor to improve the efficacy of the process
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates and maintains documentation relative to the engineering change process (ECR/ECO/ECN)
Assists internal and external groups with requests for CAD support by creating cut-sheets and dimensional drawings, computer-generated imagery, etc. as needed
Sizing conduit / wire to NEC code, working with mechanical engineering, electrical contractors, and client to ensure proper design.
Authors and maintains work instructions related to the drafting and document management processes within area of responsibility and under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisor
Maintains a process of continual professional development, as agreed upon with senior management, in support of the strategic goals of the company
Performs other duties and works on special projects as assigned

Reports directly to the Engineering Supervisor
Works with limited direct oversight; outcomes are regularly reviewed by Supervisor and Senior Engineering staff

PE license is NOT required but helps
Bachelor degree in related field is required
May consider offsetting education with experience
