Essential Duties and Responsibilities:\r
\tFluency and productive use of Solidworks\r
\tDesign and develop mechanisms, packaging, tooling, and system integration automation in concert with the leadership provided by a Sr. Mechanical Engineer\u00a0\r
\tDesign both in metric and imperial with standard sizes for sheet metal thicknesses and fastening hardware\u00a0\r
\tSupport the modifications and movement of imperial designs to low cost metric suppliers.\r
\tUse best mechanical practices including tolerance studies and design to cost, to determine which parts need mechanical modeling for stress, dynamic behavior, thermal performance, etc.\r
\tKnowledge of a variety of materials and manufacturing processes including when steel, aluminum, machined parts, molded parts, or 3D printed parts are the best for each application.\r
\tComprehension of what accuracies can be realized with each material and fabrication selection.\r
\tLeverage existing designs, properly cost components, and design to fitness-for-use goals so that a optimization of design time, BOM cost, manufacturing cost is realized.\r
\tThis includes make vs. buy analysis and considering the total product cost in decision making.\r
\tAssist in the assembly of prototype systems to verify that all fit, finish, and functional goals are met with his or her designs.\r
\tAssociate s degree in Engineering, a Bachelor s degree is preferred.\r
\t7 years of experience designing small to medium scale industrial hardware.\r
\tDemonstrated ability to facilitate dynamic cross-functional projects with engineering, manufacturing.\r
\tEnough analytical skills to know when to escalate critical components and/or subassemblies for analysis.\r
\tExperience working in time critical and fast-paced product development.\r
\tProficiency with Solidworks\r
