Job DescriptionnMechanical EngineernnGENERAL PURPOSE OF JOBnThis position will include the application of principles of physics and engineering for the generation, transmission, and utilization of heat and mechanical power. The engineer will be responsible for taking new concepts and applying engineering principles to develop a product. The engineer, through the new product development process, will be responsible to deliver new designs thru the prototype phase into manufacturing. Work is varied in nature. nnESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESnnCreate conceptual designs based on input from customers, marketing, sales, and engineering.nAbility to facilitate design reviews with an engineering team to review and refine initial concepts. nDesign products or components to meet specific feature requirements and cost targets.nEstimate concept development-time and part cost.nWork with the manufacturing team to ensure a smooth transition from engineering prototype into the build process.nTransfer knowledge & documentation to a technical writer for User Manuals & Assembly ProceduresnLayout a production cells with associated tooling for manufacturing of engineering designsnCreate BOMs and release all associated partsnProvide assistance to Field Service and Manufacturing personnel. nWork with purchasing team to define initial suppliersnWork with outside suppliers to source make componentsnPerforms other job-related duties as assigned subject to reasonable accommodations.nTravel – up to 30 percent of time.nnnJob RequirementsnEducation/Experience RequirementsnnBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2-5 years related experiencenAppropriately applies engineering principles and concepts to area of specialization. nAbility to calculate forces, stresses and thermal conductivity to design or select appropriate components.nExperience in designing custom products.nProficient in 2D and 3D CAD tools (inventor and AutoCAD)nExperience with formal product development processes involving cross functional teams.nRequires superior interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with employees, staff, management and customers.
