Description Position Summary: The Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for leading and maintaining the visual integrity of the Guardian brand and for creative development and execution of digital, social, video and print assets in support of the Guardian brand and Guardian businesses. They will successfully partner with colleagues (including peers and embedded design teams within individual business units) and agencies, building collaborative relationships and continuously striving to deliver superior design and client service. They proactively look for new and creative ways to achieve goals, staying current on design and brand best practices. Working within the Corporate Communications & Brand team, the Senior Graphic Designer will provide design guidance company-wide, aligning our businesses to one consistent visual brand experience, internally and externally. This position is equally strategic and hands-on and is the first position in a centralized corporate creative team that will be built out over coming months\/year. Candidate Responsibilities: Lead design initiatives for Corporate Communications & Brand across digital, social, print, video and events Present creative deliverables to stakeholders across the business, setting the standard for visual execution of the Guardian brand Ensure consistency of graphic and brand standards for Guardian and oversee key brand resources including Brand Center and photo library Provide creative, on-brand and on-budget photography recommendations for internal and external projects Concept, direct and\/or execute creative projects (print, digital, video, events) for internal and external distribution Digital content and assets for website, social media and other digital platforms Promotional materials for Guardian employees Print and digital advertising Video projects (with external support as needed) Executive presentations Animation and infographics Template and guideline creation Print materials such as brochures and annual reports Event materials such as banners and signage Establish and oversee consistent workflow process to manage demands Serve as design expert on industry best practices, digital technology and trends Be an advocate of exceptional visual design Source and manage external design resources, including being the lead design advisor on large scale design and creative projects Manage relationship and company account with stock photography agencies Ensure print materials are produced flawlessly from design through press check Provide brand\/design approvals as needed Manage design budgets in partnership with key stakeholders Oversee graphic designer team member (TBD) Other projects as assigned Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Brand Management who, in turn, reports to the VP Brand & Digital. This position may supervise a junior designer over time. Functional Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Well-rounded creative portfolio with design, digital, and branding projects Up-to-date on emerging technology and design trends Expertise in data visualization and infographic design Expertise in maintaining design integrity and consistency across multiple touchpoints Expertise in digital design best practices, including responsive website design, mobile marketing, front-end coding and social media Experience building and maintaining an on-brand photography library Experience with experience\/event design Expert knowledge of both offset and digital print production Expert knowledge of preparing files for print, overseeing proofing process and press checks Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop), Microsoft Office (high proficiency in PowerPoint), CSS, HTML Excellent knowledge of UI\/UX design standards and best practices Expertise with SEO concepts and principals Understanding of mobile marketing design concepts and principals Working knowledge of HTML and CS Experience designing for various content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) Video production, editing and animation skills are a plus Leadership Behaviors A strong aesthetic point of view while remaining adaptable and receptive to feedback Pro-active, organized, innovative and forward thinking Ability to problem solve and to collaborate and negotiate with team members and stakeholders across the organization Multi-tasks and works efficiently in a fast-paced environment, handling various projects at once and delivering on deadline and within budget Conveys thoughts, ideas, recommendations and technical information in a clear\/concise manner Comfortable and confident in interfacing with executive leadership as required Qualifications B.A. in Graphic Design or related field Minimum 8-10 years\u2019 experience as a graphic designer, including digital design experience, in a relevant agency, corporate or media environment Experience working with brand identity and creative firms for design collaboration and guidance Experience in financial services or regulated industries as well as matrix environments a plus Track record of directing and executing high quality design -- ad hoc projects and ongoing campaigns -- that meets objectives within budget (significant brand launch\/re-launch experience a plus) Travel: < 10% Travel - travel to\/from our NYC to various Field offices on an as-needed basis\u00a0 The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America\u00ae (Guardian), currently ranked #218 on the Fortune 500, is one of the largest mutual life insurers.
