Koch Fertilizer, LLC is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer
to join our Engineering group in Wichita, Kansas. The successful candidate will provide technical support in project development, QA/QC, installation, start-up and turnaround activities on all electrical equipment. This role offers the opportunity to develop and implement long term strategic goals for power distribution and management systems, provides the opportunity to mentor and coach facility personnel, and be partially involved with daily operations to drive strategic plans.
Provide technical support and participate in risk based analysis on electrical equipment work lists
Apply engineering theory, practices, and principles to determine root cause of equipment failures and to perform performance evaluations
Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and field data to develop measurable programs which will obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment
Apply reliability principles in obtaining optimum solutions on electrical equipment problems and new equipment selection
Evaluate electrical utility systems to maximize the reliability of the electrical utilities for company facilities
Provide direction to resolve field related problems around electrical equipment including coaching and training as needed
10 years’ experience in electrical equipment reliability and electrical design
Use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
Experience with power distribution systems
Working knowledge of API, NEC, NFPA, NEMA, ANSI, IEEE, NETA, etc. industry standards for electrical equipment, design and maintenance
Ability to use a laptop computer with Windows to conduct quick spot checks and to carry out larger studies such as relay coordination, short circuit, transient stability, voltage drop and load flow
Experience specifying, applying in designs, test witnessing and troubleshooting the entire spectrum of power system equipment including high/medium/low voltage switchgear, UPS’, VFD’s, power transformers, protective relaying, motor control centers, starters, generators, etc.
Experience with operating voltages of 120V, 480V, 4160V and 13.8KV
Power project experience or equivalent understanding
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience overseeing and reviewing the engineering work of others
Must be able to support plants and terminals for project and turnaround work
Must be able to travel to site locations on short notice
Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
Must be able to climb towers and enter confined spaces
Must be able to wear and use personnel protective equipment
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Previous experience in a technical role with vast expertise in power and electrical system reliability, troubleshooting and design
Plant Operation and Project Management experience
Knowledge of high voltage equipment
Able to identify needs and opportunity and work independently to achieve goals
Ability to provide directions to and work with others to achieve the desired outcomes
