Education: Bachelor’s degree from a professionally accredited architecture program or eight years equivalent experience.   

(2 yrs equivalent experience X 4 yrs to attain a bachelor)

Advanced degree preferable.

Experience: Ten to fifteen years as an architect.  Experience with design of Healthcare Facilities preferred.  Design supervision and Project Management experience is desirable.  Working knowledge of Building and Life Safety codes required. AutoCAD experience required. 

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Current Licensure as Architect in Commonwealth of Virginia. Virginia motor vehicle operator license required.   

Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), problem solving and teamwork skills required. AIA membership desirable. Ability to maintain detailed records.    Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.  Acts as a professional Architectural Advocate on design/construction issues and primary system-wide building code interpretation resource included but not limited to the FGI, local, state and other regulatory entities having jurisdiction. Submits designs and documents to authorities having jurisdiction to obtain approval.

Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. Evening and weekend work may be required.OUR VALUES
