Computer aided design is otherwise known as CAD and refers to designs created using the computers.

Architects, engineers, draftsmen, and anybody with a penchant for design jobs, say textile designers and artists, can learn CAD. CAD is offered through courses and the prerequisites for taking up a course are different. For engineering applications, the applicant should have done an engineering course. For a textile designer, the applicant should have undergone a course in textile and printing technology and/or a design course. He can also be qualified out of an art school. However, such students should be computer literate. There are also integrated courses available for the computer illiterate. CAD finds numerous applications in engineering jobs. A CAD certified mechanical engineer can create prototypes and models using CAD and twist and turn them to get the optimal design and quantity of material to create the same. Finding a job for himself in the product research and design center of an engineering company may be easy. Likewise, a CAD certified mechanical engineer can get employed in the petroleum industry if his job involves laying a complex network of petroleum pipes. Electrical engineering jobs also require CAD these days. The design of complex generators and motors and their wiring, laying complicated wiring networks, wiring estimates of the electrical system of a building, etc., that are part of electrical engineering jobs, can get a CAD certified electrical engineer a very challenging and well-paid job in the industry. Architects with knowledge of CAD can get employed in construction companies or even set up their own building design firms. Civil engineers even offer walkthroughs of buildings that they are to construct. Textile designers with knowledge of CAD are much in demand in big textile manufacturing companies. Art jobs can be executed using CAD. This is of particular interest to artists who are CAD certified. They can find jobs in design houses or even opt to teach the subject to other aspiring designers. Jobs for CAD certified candidates, whatever is their area of specialization, with the specific requirements, are available online these days. The online jobs can be applied for and subsequent follow-ups can help aspirants land the design jobs of their choice.
