A CADD designer operates at the CADD work stations plotters, printers and other associated equipment in order to support design preparation for projects in industry and infrastructure including investigations, assessments, engineering studies, designs and construction-phase services. A CADD designer is responsible for developing and drafting mechanical, electrical or instrumentation, civil or structural and process design drawings that include equipment, electrical schematics, control panels, conduit and cable schedules, process piping and flow diagrams. A CADD engineer also assists in preparing engineering reports and cost estimates and specifications.
A CADD designer should possess an accredited certificate indicating CADD proficiency. A CADD designer should possess an associate degree in drafting or CADD with experience in the domain. A CADD designer should be well conversant with AutoCAD 2007 and 3D design. A CADD designer should be apt at interpreting technical documents like databases, field notes, reports, specifications, maps and engineering drawings. A CADD designer should possess very good mathematical skills as well as very good communication skills.
