The designers who work as part of the "Computer Aided Designs" have to combine computer science, art and engineering. The job of designers in Computer Aided Design is very interesting. Designers who work as part of the "Computer Aided Design" use drafting software that is computer aided for creating designs of machinery and products. The products have to be rendered scientifically and mathematically after finishing so that precise implementing of them is possible for creating a product. Knowledge on the various aspects of the job would be assessed by the employers. A knowledge and ability to use most of the software platforms of CAD that are commonly used in an industry would be a necessity. Team management skills are another important requirement as they have to manage the drafter's team in their work. Experienced people are preferred by most of the employers. Even if a candidate has the above mentioned certifications that are of no value at the top level, being able to prove their experience and the skills can fetch themselves a good job. A non-computer engineering graduate can get employment with several CAD firms with adequate experience.

As of May 2008, the median annual salary for designers in this sector was $61,580. There has been a good hike compared to their salary in 2006.
